Great Joy!
Great joy comes from walking with a child on his journey of faith. Every gathering of families provides an opportunity to walk that path with a child. With opportunity, comes responsibility.

Great Responsibility!
The opportunity to walk the path of faith with a child, or 500 children, gives churches the responsibility of providing a safe environment for learning as God designed preschoolers and children to learn. Facing this responsibility can be daunting.

Great Opportunities!
Training events and mission trips provide support and preparation for local church ministry to preschoolers, children and their families. Preschool and children’s leaders in the NWBC delight in learning, sharing ideas and serving together.

Great Events!
Please watch the NWBC calendar for these events:

Safety & Security
Churches must do all that they can to provide a safe and secure environment for all preschoolers, children and workers. Here are a few suggestions for providing a safe environment.

  • Screening all adults, volunteer and paid, who work with preschoolers and children. The screening should include references from former churches and a criminal background check.
  • Using some type of security procedure for releasing preschoolers and young children only to authorized adults.
  • Provide a least two unrelated adults in each department regardless of the number of children and the size of the church.
  • Supervising adults who work with preschoolers and children closely and making unannounced visits in the department often.
  • Educating and encouraging the use of universal health precautions.

Resources – Abuse Awareness (Updated 082719)

Included in the resource document above, the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission has partnered with an SBC advisory group to produce free online training to help churches prevent the potential for abuse and to care for those victimized by abuse. That training is available online here:
