Dear Youth Leader:
On April 25-26, 2008 Northwest Baptist youth, friends,
and youth leaders will gather for our annual NWBC Student Conference.
This event for junior and senior high youth and sponsors will
be held at Crossroads Community Church in Vancouver,
Washington. Our theme this year is "Celebrate Diversity".
We will have two featured speakers this year. Mark Roberts
with First Priority Ministries will challenge our students
to reach other students on their campus regardless of the ethnic,
social and preference group diversity. Dr. Alveda King,
daughter of the late slain civil rights activist Rev. A.D. King
and niece of the late Martin Luther King Jr., from Priests for
Life Ministries will share some of her family testimony as well
as challenge our students in the area of sexual purity and sexual
abstinence until marriage.
Our worship leaders this year will be the band Shachah
from Costa Mesa, CA. Shachah is the Hebrew word for worship.
It means to bow down, to prostrate oneself before God in worship.
This definition keeps in focus the essence, ministry and vision
of the band Shachah. With their unique style, the band will engage
our students in heart-felt and sincere worship that will point
them to Jesus. With their love for the Lord and using music as
their tool, they desire to build bridges of worship uniting cultures
in this generation. Log on to www.shachah.com for more information.
Our Friday "Late Nite" activity will be FREE
and on site, featuring prizes, free giveaways and
a Jeremy Hoffman Stage Show called "The Misadventures
of Howie Potter" and more! You may remember Jeremy was
a big hit a few years back. Go to www.mastersimage.com for more info on Jeremy.
The cost for this year's conference is $40. This will
include conference fee, Saturday lunch, stage show, and for those
who preregister by April 9, a FREE Celebrate Diversity
T-Shirt. We have made an agreement with Vancouver hotels for
discount accommodations and free "sleep on the floor"
local church arrangements (see enclosed budgeting sheet).
Ask members of your church to begin praying for students, youth
leaders and the conference. Encourage your students to invite
non-Christian friends. We are looking forward to what God will
do during this awesome weekend!
See ya there!
