Safety & Security
Churches must do all that they can to provide a safe and secure environment for all preschoolers, children and workers. Here are a few suggestions for providing a safe environment.

• Screening all adults, volunteer and paid, who work with preschoolers and children. The screening should include references from former churches and a criminal background check.
• Using some type of security procedure for releasing preschoolers and young children only to authorized adults.
• Provide a least two unrelated adults in each department regardless of the number of children and the size of the church.
• Supervising adults who work with preschoolers and children closely and making unannounced visits in the department often.
• Educating and encouraging the use of universal health precautions.
